Buddhirbalam Ya?o Dhairya? Nirbhayatvamarogata Aja?ya? Vakpa?utva? Cha Hanumat Smara?adbhavet- Unknown , Unknown
Meaning:
By remembering Lord Hanuman, may we be blessed with intellect, strength, fame, courage, valour, good health, awareness, and eloquence.
Essence:
The Hanuman Shloka invokes attributes that make one strong both physically and mentally. Intelligence, courage, fearlessness, good health, and communication are some of the attributes praised in this shloka because strength never comes from the physical body alone.
It is interesting to note that Hanuman's physical form also holds an amazing story. He possesses a mace, which signifies his power and strength. The mountain he carries shows his extraordinary determination. His most important attribute is not something he carries in his hand; it's the inner devotion and courage of his heart.
Consider a youth facing a challenging opportunity. It may be a tough interview or the first time presenting oneself for a job; an examination; or a situation where one leaves the safe route and embarks on the unknown one. Fear immediately starts naming all that can go wrong. The person knows that they are capable of much, but it takes courage to step forward.
And here comes the metaphor of Hanuman.
Bravery is not about not being scared. It is about not letting fear dictate your actions.
Another wonderful teaching from the legend of Hanuman is that strength gains its greatest power through its direction by purpose. Intuition without courage can go unexploited. Courage without intellect can turn into rashness. Strength without humility can lead to arrogance. This shloka combines all these qualities.
One more thing we pray for in this prayer is vakpa?utvam - speaking skilfully. This is particularly important in today’s world. It is great to know something, but it is even better to convey that knowledge, turning an idea into action.
Hanuman is a symbol of strength in perfect proportion: wisdom, courage, physical ability, and humility.
This may explain the continued appeal of his symbolic representation. All of us have faced situations when we felt too small before a challenge. This teaches us that the strength we need may lie within us; we need the courage to realize it.
All it takes to live a beautiful, divine life is becoming brave enough to take the next step.
Remember your strength. Use your wisdom. Speak clearly. And whenever you face fear, allow yourself courage.
